Tangier sits only 14 km from Spain across the Strait of Gibraltar, and fast ferries from Tarifa make it the easiest way into Morocco from southern Europe. Your driver can meet you at the port or at Ibn Battouta Airport and take you straight onto the road south.
The Blue City of Chefchaouen is just over two hours away, so it makes a natural first night. From there the route runs through Roman Volubilis and Meknes to Fes, then across the Atlas to the Sahara and on to Marrakech. Allow around ten days to enjoy the whole length of the country without long driving days.
